browsertap-mcp

Publisher README and Python manifest reviewed from pinned captures. The package, bridge, extension, and browser were not executed. The publisher warns that this exposes a real logged-in browser profile, broad extension permissions, cookies, and untrusted page content; operators must scope accounts and authorization accordingly.

Capabilities: Read and inspect browser pages, Interact with background tabs, Manage tabs and authenticated downloads, Inspect cookies, storage, network activity, and console output, Capture page screenshots and PDFs

Unattended configuration

The stdio MCP server starts a detached loopback BrowserBridge daemon on demand, and documented page input operates in the selected browser tab in the background by default.

Authentication and prerequisites

Authentication does not map cleanly to the directory taxonomy: the local /link bridge uses a persistent per-user token created and read from a shared token file, while remote sites inherit the user's existing browser-profile sessions. The extension must be loaded manually.

Connection configuration

Run browsertap as the MCP stdio command; it connects through a local BrowserBridge to the manually loaded BrowserTap Bridge extension in a running supported Chromium browser.
